About rob

the long road
Rob was born in the nation's capital and grew up curious about how people lead, why some rise to the moments that matter, and what separates the leaders who change things from the ones who simply hold positions. That curiosity shaped a life. A college athlete in his early twenties. A veteran. A young executive learning to build and lead. Four decades later, the same questions still drive the work.
Rob has spent forty years leading at the highest levels of business. As a chief executive of private and publicly traded global technology companies, he scaled operations across more than fifty countries, raised hundreds of millions in capital, and built high-performing teams across industries from communications and software to real estate, technology, and Fortune 50 partnerships. Along the way, he mentored hundreds of leaders into bigger roles, refined frameworks for how leadership actually works, and developed a conviction that runs through everything he does today.
The road has been long enough to know what holds up and what doesn't. The titles that mattered most weren't the ones on the business card, the markets weren't always kind, and the lessons that stuck were rarely the ones taught in books. What carries through every chapter is a simple thread. Leadership is built, not granted. Growth is earned, not given. The work, day after day, is what makes both of them real.
the work now
Today, Rob coaches leaders. Executives navigating bigger roles, business owners building companies that last, and leaders at every level who are committed to growing into who they are meant to become. His coaching practice is built around two convictions earned over four decades. Leadership is behavior, not position. And there is no alternative to personal and professional growth.
Beyond one-on-one coaching, Rob is the founder of Catalyst Network, a community of more than 500 leaders growing together. He designs and delivers custom leadership development programs for organizations that want more than a one-time workshop. He teaches entrepreneurial leadership to high school juniors and seniors. He hosts the School of Empowerment podcast and writes a daily column for leaders called the Daily Catalyst. He has authored multiple books on leadership and value creation, including World Class Value and The Adam Connection.
Endurance sports have been part of Rob's work for as long as he has coached. Rob has completed more than seventy marathons and an Ironman, a body of athletic discipline that continues today. The marathon is not a metaphor for leadership. It is the same work. Show up, do the next mile, hold the standard when no one is watching, and trust that the daily practice produces the outcome. The athletes and leaders Rob has coached have heard the same thing from him for decades. Do the work. Follow the process. The results follow.

What drives him
The work is grounded in a passion for serving others and adding value. Rob believes that growth is not optional, that leaders are made through behavior and not appointed through title, and that the best leadership is rooted in faith, discipline, and a willingness to keep doing the work when no one is watching. His Christian faith shapes the conviction behind everything he does, even when the work itself speaks to people of every background.
What started as curiosity about how people lead has become a lifelong study of what makes leadership real. Books on leadership, history, technology, and human longevity sit on Rob's desk and on his shelves. The frameworks he teaches were tested first in his own life. The questions he asks clients are the questions he keeps asking himself. The work of coaching is, in the end, the work of becoming.
What keeps Rob in the work is simple. He has watched too many capable people stop short of who they could become. Not because they lacked the talent, but because they lacked a coach, a community, or a daily practice that held them to the standard they set for themselves. The mission is to be that coach, build that community, and model that practice. Every conversation, every framework, every podcast, every book, every mile, every page is part of the same effort. Help leaders become the leaders the moment requires.

Beyond the credential
Rob holds a PhD in organizational leadership from Liberty University, a master's degree in global leadership from the University of San Diego, and a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of South Florida. He is a Certified Master Leadership Coach (CMLC) through the Board of Christian Life Coaching and holds professional membership in the Association for Applied Sport Psychology and the American Association of Christian Counselors. During the writing of The Adam Connection, he served as a research fellow with the Arthur C. Custance Centre.
The credentials matter, but they aren't the work. The work is the daily practice of showing up for clients, members, and readers who are trying to grow. Rob coaches one-on-one with executives and business owners around the country. He hosts members of Catalyst Network through monthly master coaching sessions, masterclasses, and a steady rhythm of content designed to sharpen thinking and reinforce conviction. He teaches, writes, and speaks because the ideas only matter when they reach the people who need them. Credentials describe what someone has earned. Practice describes what they actually do.
Beyond the credentials, Rob lives in Safety Harbor, Florida with his wife Jill. He is a grandfather, a lifelong learner, and a man trying to live out what he teaches. He reads constantly, runs early, writes daily, and believes the best is still ahead. If you've read this far and any of it resonates, the door is open. Reach out, listen to an episode, or just read along. Wherever you start, start somewhere.
